PhD student is awarded the prestigious Otto von Gruber Award

It is with great pleasure to inform you that Dr. Wai-Yeung Yan, Postdoctoral Fellow, and our PhD graduate student, has been awarded the prestigious Otto von Gruber Award. The award is given every four years to the author of a paper of outstanding merit in the photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information sciences. A jury of individuals appraise the papers on the basis of a majority vote of the jury members. The jury are composed of the President of the ISPRS (International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing); and designations from the Council of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photogrammetrie, Fernerkundung und Geoinformation e. V. (DGPF), the Council of the United Kingdom Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc), and the Chairman of the Netherlands Centre of Geodesy and Geo-informatics (NCG). The result of the jury’s decision will be announced at a Plenary Session of the 2016 ISPRS Congress in Prague, and the Award will be presented to the recipient in person by the Secretary General or the President. Dr. Yan is the first Canadian to receive this award.
